A mainland gambler has won a HK$28 million jackpot on a slot machine at MGM Cotai’s casino – believed to be one of the biggest jackpots won in Macao, Allin Media have learned from informed sources.

This gambler’s unexpected windfall has added another loss to MGM China, whose annual report for 2021 released last week shows that the company was HK$3.85 billion in the red.

Although baccarat remains the most popular game in Macao’s casinos, slot machines have also gained in popularity in recent years due to the attraction of jackpots.

At present MGM has about 2,500 slot machines and 500 gaming tables.

Meanwhile MGM’s annual report also reveals that it might be liable for as much as HK$202 million regarding cash deposits placed with gambling junkets that had been working with the firm. It has been named as a defendant in three civil cases relating to cash allegedly placed with two junkets that had been active at its MGM Macau resort.
